Aerobic Kickboxing
Also known as cardio kickboxing or fitness kickboxing, aerobic kickboxing is a high impact cardiovascular workout that combines the elements of martial arts, boxing and aerobics. It is a great calorie-burning workout that puts emphasis on the importance of balance, pace, proper conditioning and coordination.
A basic kickboxing session will consist of repetitive stretches and a series of repeated punches alternated with hand strikes. Some cardio-kickboxing classes also include jump rope exercises, punching a heavy bag or a series of shadow-boxing drills.
Being one of America’s favorite cardiovascular exercises, it has made some butt-kicking results from weight loss to body toning. For most of the session, the heart rate remains on a level that allows the body to burn fat because of the bobbing, weaving, and jumping movements. In addition to strengthening the heart muscles, this full-body workout increases flexibility and improve reflexes. It also enhances your metabolic rate because of an increased body conditioning which allows calories to burn even after the exercise.
Aerobic kickboxing is also great stress reliever. The release of endorphins through this strenuous workout can give you that ‘natural high’ feeling throughout the day. While it is a great way to tone the body with a combination of kicks and boxing moves, studies also show that aerobic kickboxing can give you a sense of well-being and improves self-confidence.
